Water In The Basement
The other day I did an estimate in Naperville. It had just rained cats and dogs. I pulled up to this beautiful 12,000 sq ft home for my appointment. The homeowners met me in the driveway and walked me down to their beautifully finished basement. Nice thick oak doors, nice carpeting, nice six inch oak trim. You get the point right? Well, unfortunately on the way to the sump pits, we were walking through 3 inches of water because not one, but both of their sump pumps in two different pits died and stopped pumping water outside. Now they have to clean this mess up by cutting the dry wall out. The doors and trim may be ruined and the insurance may not cover the sump pump failure.
Why A Battery Back Up Sump Pump Is Needed
Now these homeowners have a $15,000-$25,000 dollar expense. All the homeowners had to do was buy a battery backup system that would have cost anywhere from $800 to $1,500. No one informed the homeowners of that option. So listen, the most important thing in any home for water proofing no matter how big or small your house is, IS GET A BATTERY BACK UP SUMP PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
